.Farmers Helping Farmers is a PEI based, long established NGO implementing development projects in Kenya. Our programs support the development of rural families through training and economic support. Funding for these projects is from various sources including Global Affairs Canada. The organization is a mix of volunteers and paid staff located either in PEI or in Kenya. We are searching for an energetic, highly organized individual to take on the role of Administration / Finance Officer while working from home in Prince Edward Island. This job is part time for 20 hours per week. Rate of pay is $35 to $40 per hour depending on qualifications. This is contract position and the employee is responsible for all deductions. Duties to include : - Assist in developing contracts/staff agreements and recruiting. - Review financial advance request for accuracy and completeness - Process leave and travel forms. - Collate and send to funding agency monthly advance of funds request - Collate and send to funding agency monthly Canadian FHF expenses along with package of actual receipts etc. for Kenyan Office - Receive expense claims and forward for payment. - Provide monthly template for timesheet - Receive and file monthly financial information - Maintain financial records in SAGE or similar record keeping system. - The job is for 20 hours per week. Work primarily from home in PEI, Canada. Will require a very good Wifi connection. If required necessary office equipment will be provided. Some meeting attendance will be required. The applicant will be required to learn required formats for submitting information to government and partner organizations. The applicant will report to the Chair of the FHF project committee. Mentoring will be supplied to enable the candidate to fulfil the requirements of the position. The job may require limited travel to Kenya. Qualifications · A degree in business administration or Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program in office administration and at least two years of similar work experience. · Ability to work independently and complete tasks on time. · Some flexibility of time to attend Zoom meetings for example. · Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools, as well as Excel and other Office. · Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
