Position Summary Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Outreach Worker will offer early intervention for women involved in the sex trade through empathetic first response street level engagement through outreach services. The worker will also provide referrals and transitions to other services, continue to build/consolidate partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders, and provide preventative activities such as education in the community. The worker will also be expected to staff the drop-in, and attend all programs and department staff meetings and relevant Mount Carmel Clinic committees, In addition, the incumbent will be required to perform household duties on a rotating basis or as needed basis. This includes but is not limited to laundry services, food preparation, and cleaning. Qualifications Education Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle Skills, Expertise and Experience Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program target population Experience providing outreach with hard to reach population Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, facilitation, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes Alignment with Organizational Values Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values Commitment to Reconciliation Knowledge and historical factors that affect the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families Teamwork Proven ability to work within a team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity and cultural awareness MCC Philosophies Strong knowledge, commitment and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed and community development principles in all aspects of the work Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems Assets Post-secondary education in a Social Services field Applicants with lived or living experience in the sex trade work are encouraged to self-declare on their resume Bona Fide Occupational Requirement Gender is a bona fide occupational requirement: This position is open to self-identifying female applicants only All positions are subject to Criminal Record, Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks.
