Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber) and Aerospace.
For its activities, Thales Belgium SA (Tubize site) is therefore looking for a: UX/UI - User Experience / User Interface Designer (F/M/X)
The UX Design Roles design and develop engaging user experiences (UX) for a variety of applications. They study and evaluate users need and business requirements to translate them into features and functionalities that enhance the user experiences.
The UI Design Roles articulate, develop and model the end user experience including the visual design of the application, to make user interaction simple, efficient and consistent. They apply subject matter knowledge in the design, development, documentation, debugging and support of the user interface (UI) to have a best possible user experience.

PROFILE:
- You graduated with a Master’s in Design, Product Design, Interaction/Experience Design or Computer Science with a specialty in ergonomics/design
- You have significant experience with (Digital) User Experience and User Interface Design
- You have a strong portfolio of past visual and user experience design work
- You want to carry out research activities to identify both user needs and business requirements in order to design features and functionalities adequately
- You are recognised as a team player and love collaborative work
- You encourage a culture of feedback
- You are curious and enjoy continuous learning: you like following the latest trends in innovation and design
- You are creative, resourceful and meticulous.
COMPETENCES:
- You are familiar with user-centered design methodologies and master several design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Axure, Adobe suite, Sketch, Framer X, etc.

You have a deep understanding of:
- Design Crafts (sketching, modelling, prototyping, …)
- Design Practice & Methods (processes, methods & practices)
- Design Research (User research and external research methods, techniques and tools)
- Experimentation & Usability Testing
- Web development and/or Web technologies
- You have in-depth knowledge of the technical standards governing the organisation of graphic and textual elements
- You have good experience working with design systems
- You have good communication skills (i.e. storytelling)
- You have good understanding of business and data issues
- You can share with people from different jobs and backgrounds
NICE TO HAVE:
- You have developed or used C2/C4ISR products
LIFE AS THALES USER EXPERIENCE AND USER INTERFACE DESIGN ROLES
As User Experience Designer, you will:
- Research user needs and support user research conducted through multiple tools
- Design user experience architecture and support the design of user journeys to enable effortless navigation taking into account the brand standards, Thales design system, data analytics insights and customer feedback
- Provide document design standards, design wireframes, mockups, specifications and patterns across channels and products
- Conduct all phases of usability testing of prototypes in the lab and remote settings
- Optimise user experience by improving application site to functionalities, design and navigation according to user feedbacks on user interface performance
As User Interface Designer, you will:
- Identify business needs and user requirements by conducting research
- Design user interface and translate content and layout into an intuitive and responsive experience for users
- Propose emerging technologies or methodologies to design user interface and/or aesthetics
- Deliver consistent styles & design in line with the Thales Design System.
- Conduct usability testing to validate the presentation and interactivity of a product
- Monitor user interface to ensure effective reflection of Thales strengths and visual assets to a product’s interface
- Measure outcomes of user interface design improvements using metrics and benchmarking criteria
- Develop solutions to complex user interface design issues
