Scientist (with possibility to do a Ph D) EU Project Pharm Eco: Advancing Safe and Sustainable by Design Practices in Pharmaceutical Manfacturing

Duties and responsibilities Perform cutting-edge research focused on engineering-driven optimization of conventional operating strategies present in biological processes within the pharmaceutical industry. These activities are part of an EU collaboration with several industrial and academic partners.
The project tasks will involve:
Modeling of individual unit operations (e.g. fermentation, purification, ...) using data-driven and hybrid modeling algorithms
Design of (model-based) control algorithms
Integration of model and control algorithms into a digital twin strucuture
The algorithms will be designed in a simulation environment and then transferred to the real system
Requirements
An MS degree (or close to end) in an engineering field (electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, chemical or pharmaceutical engineering, biorefinery engineering, mathematics or related fields)
Knowledge (or strong interest/willingness to learn) in MATLAB/Simulink as well as in Python or similar tools Knowledge (or strong interest/willingness to learn) in control-engineering topics as an advantage
Professional conduct and communication skills in dealing with international clients, partners and colleagues
Interest and experience in performing top-level and target-oriented research at the interface of basic science and industrial application
Readiness to write a Ph D thesis, publish in peer-reviewd journals, and participate in international conferences
