Youth Worker

We are looking for a Youth worker with a can do out of the box attitude and work ethic to join our team at Ruff TRACK Farm program.
Employment type & hours: Full Time/Part Time 35- 38 hours a week,
Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:00pm, Occasional overnight camps and weekend events
Award conditions: Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010(SCHADS)
Location: Ruff TRACK Farm, Londonderry NSW
Who is Ruff TRACK? The Ruff TRACK program is modelled on a similar program in Armidale NSW, Back Track, aimed at engaging vulnerable young people and helping them develop life and work skills to plan their future pathways. Ruff TRACK supports young people aged between 11 and 17 years of age who have disengaged with school and the community. We support them in education and skill development to transform their lives. We work closely with Hawkesbury Local Area Command (Police) and the incredible Back Track to fundamentally change young people’s lives. When a young person joins Ruff TRACK, they bond with a dog in their first days. This partnership takes them on a journey of learning responsibility, caring for others and communicating without violence.
Who We Need? Helping run numerous programs on our farm and providing the right mentorship for each of the participants in a group setting.You must care about improving outcomes for disengaged youth and demonstrate you can form a connection and build trust with young people in a wraparound support network.The Youth Worker will provide hands on program support to clients within the farm environment, including participating in and facilitating agricultural group work activities such as animal care and training, farmyard maintenance and horticulture, skilled trade and tool work, sporting and other recreational activities and community events.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum 12 months experience working with vulnerable young people and acknowledge of the range of issues facing vulnerable youth
  • Sound Knowledge of Child Protection Systems and Mandatory Reporting Practices
  • Experience in developing partnerships to develop referral pathways
  • Genuine interest and concern for creating independence in young people
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs
  • Proven ability to work confidently with challenging behaviours within a trauma informed and Client centred Framework.
  • Excellent communication, collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated written communication and ability to keep accurate documents
  • Ability to maintain an ethical, inclusive and non-judgemental attitude.
  • Ability to use online case management systems and computer proficiency.
  • Passionate about working with young people and animals in a farm environment, including working outdoors in the elements and meeting the physical demands involved in supporting young people within the farm environment or during activities or camps.
  • Qualifications, Checks and References (Mandatory)
  • Completed Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or Welfare qualifications (min. Certificate 4 in Welfare/Community Services/Youth Work) or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work in Australia
  • Unrestricted Current `C` class Driver’s Licence minimum
  • A valid National Police Clearance,
  • Working with Children Check,
  • First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification
  • Two referees, including current or most recent manager
