In Australia, the SKAO is collaborating with CSIRO to operate and support the construction of the low frequency telescope (SKA-Low) in remote Western Australia on Wajarri Yamaji Country.

The Traditional Owners and native title holders, the Wajarri Yamaji, have gifted CSIRO with the traditional name Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara for the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory, home to the SKA-Low telescope. The traditional name means ‘sharing sky and stars’ in the Wajarri language.

  • Perform regular quality audits and, where required, propose, develop and lead improvement initiatives in areas including safety, recreational facilities, accommodation, transport, and catering
  • Address concerns or issues between camp stakeholders (SKAO, CSIRO, the camp service provider, occupants and visitors), understanding the position of each stakeholder and enabling an effective resolution of any issues
  • Key contact for all SKAO/CSIRO specific camp event coordination ensuring that events are delivered to a high standard.
  • Understand and appreciate local Indigenous requirements, ensuring that the camp is an inclusive and welcoming environment for Indigenous staff and contractors.
