This traineeship will run for a period of two (2) years, and will include on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring from experienced professionals. At the end of the traineeship program you will attain a nationally recognised vocational qualification.

About our Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program for 2025
Parkes Shire Council is offering cadetship, apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities for highly motivated and enthusiastic people looking to gain on-the-job experience and practical knowledge whilst working towards a nationally accredited qualification through a Registered Training Organisation.
The CAT Program provides you with the opportunity to gain on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring from experienced professionals, with all training and study costs paid for by Council. The programs run from two (2) to eight (8) years in duration, depending on the level of qualification being undertaken.
Our cadet, apprentice and trainee positions are advertised online from August to September each year, with successful applicants commencing employment the following February. Vacancies vary from year to year depending on our operational requirements.

NSW Provisional or Full Driver's Licence
Remuneration
As a trainee you will be employed under the Traineeship Band of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The commencement level will be based on age and any prior qualifications/experiences. You will progress through the traineeship band on an annual basis dependent on satisfactory work performance and course progression.

Interview Process
Applications will be shortlisted as they are received. You will be contacted by phone if you have been selected for interview. You will be required to bring with you a copy of all relevant certificates and qualifications. The interview panel will consist of a panel of three.

Pre-employment Screening
In the event you are shortlisted for an interview, and are then selected to progress to the next stage following interview, you must be prepared to undergo the following pre-employment screening processes as part of the selection process:
A pre-employment physical examination (at Council's expense), including a hearing and drug and alcohol test
Please include two work related referees in your resume for reference checking purposes - please ensure your referee details are current
Undertake any other applicable screening that may be relevant to the role
Council may also check authenticity of certificates and qualifications
Provide the applicable Working with Children Check number as the role may involve working with work experience students
