The Team Leader – Construction (Civil) leads a team of construction specialists. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the successful planning, execution, and construction of Powerlink infrastructure projects, adhering to Australian Standards, Powerlink Specifications, and Electrical Safe Systems of Work.

  • Lead the team in quality management and collaboration
  • Focus on high-quality performance of contractors and service providers
  • Develop balanced workloads and support project activities
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and address any safety issues
  • Attend project meetings and collaborate on site-related matters
  • Improve technical specifications and safe systems of work
  • Lead technical innovation and digitisation activities
  • Develop civil construction methodologies
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Project Managers
The community you will join
As a member of our Infrastructure Delivery group within the broader Delivery & Technical Solutions (DTS) division, your role will see you identifying and managing fatigue, safety and development of your direct team and ensuring high quality performance of our contractors and service providers. This role is based in Virginia with occasional travel required.

Your expertise
We are seeking someone with demonstrated experience in managing and leading technical teams involved in the delivery of power, energy, renewables, or other heavy industry. Proven track record in successfully overseeing the performance of contractors and related service providers to ensure they deliver according to their contractual obligations. As well as demonstrated experience and capability in the effective application of safe systems of work, resulting in safe outcomes and/or performance improvement.
Stand out candidates will possess knowledge and experience in the construction of high voltage power systems, particularly transmission infrastructure projects, both in greenfield and operational (brownfield) environments.
Essential requirements
  • Relevant degree level qualification in Engineering or Construction Management; or other electrical, mechanical, civil, telecommunications trade qualifications coupled with significant construction or heavy industry experience.
