About the Role: Knauf is seeking a passionate and experienced Sustainability Manager to join our Manufacturing team based in Camellia, NSW. The main purpose is to ensure that resources are managed in a way that does not compromise the environment or deplete the materials for future generations. The sustainability effort is also a key component for our business to meet our customers’ requirements and to secure the company position for the long-term. This role will head up the identification, implementation and monitoring of Knauf’s sustainability projects to deliver sustainable and low energy / low carbon projects, as well as communicating requirements across the business and ensuring proper reporting. The role demands a strong understanding of sustainability in relation to reuse, remanufacturing, recycling, energy monitoring & targeting, energy efficiency measures and the effects of carbon emissions and how to reduce them. Role Responsibilities:
Drive sustainability projects, support Steerco preparations, support sustainability improvement actions & support action plan definitions, implementation tracking & reporting
Track and follow up data reporting (energy consumption and efficiency, Green House Gas emissions, water consumption, waste management)
Communicate with BUs and plants, ensure proper information sharing & use and consolidate Knauf standardised reporting KPIs
Engage teams in sustainability actions, motivate teams, recognise good performance and support teams facing difficulties
Build up long sustainability roadmap for each plant but also at country level, analyze and evaluate energy & CO2 reduction potentials in the plants by periodic audits and assessments
Identifying sustainability risks and appropriate mitigation measures and highlighting any opportunities to improve sustainability performance
Assist in preparing sustainability technology studies to support investment preparation
Ensure that digital tool implementation will fully support sustainability purposes
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent level) in a sustainable, environmental, or engineering
Experience in gypsum industry, process industry, construction material (Highly Regarded) or experience in multinational and cross functional projects & sustainability
Experience in change management, project management, motivation of plant teams, organizing trainings & adapting communication to various levels (plant, administration, technical teams, top management)
Able to look for state of the art energy efficiency technologies and sustainability technologies from other industries and public domain
Theoretical and practical knowledge in Sustainability, Thermodynamics, Thermal processing, Industrial processing, Combustion, Steam, Electricity & Global energy optimization
Experience with data recording and analysis & Waste management
Perform Energy audits at site level and strong analytics capabilities
