THE OPPORTUNITY: Reporting to the Senior Health & Safety Advisor, the Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor is accountable for ensuring the safety and health of employees through the delivery of professional safety services, promotion, and management of the Mine Safety Management System and the delivery in a timely and professional manner in regard to health and safety related matters. This is a 12-Month Fixed Term Full-Time position, on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth, WA Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developed Health and Safety Initiatives and improve safety management processes, such as:
Investigation Quality Improvements
Permit to work
Contractor Management
Digital Safety Management System (SMS) Integration
Fatigue Monitoring and Management System
Safety Culture and Leadership Training
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Enhancement
Sustainable Safety Practices
Dehydration and Heat Stress Prevention
Maintain the Health and Safety Management Systems
Developed frontline leaders Health and Safety knowledge.
Review and moderate incidents
Coaching all workforce on safety management
Incident reporting through SRS
Interface with internal and external stakeholders, such as Contractor Representatives, Shutdowns, Projects Team, DEMIRS.
Coaching Operational leads on Quality Interactions, including Planned Task Observations and Safety Conversations
Conduct Health and Safety audits
Assist in developing and presenting Health and Safety training packages for use across the site.
Facilitate in Prestart and Information (PSI) meetings, Safety and Health representative committee (HSR) meetings and Toolbox meetings.
Assist in accident and incident investigations, ensuring investigations are completed to a quality that identifies root causes and puts corrective actions in place to prevent recurrence.
Assist in applying and reviewing risk management processes effectively and consistently.
Any other duties as directed by site Senior Health and Safety Advisor or Health and Safety Ops Manager.
ABOUT YOU:
Strong background in health and safety, with expertise in WHS laws and practical safety system management.
Able to implement new technologies and solutions to enhance safety practices.
Skilled in leading diverse teams and managing change, driving alignment with safety goals.
Effective communicator who can work across all levels to build a strong safety culture.
Uses data to inform decisions and continuously improve safety performance.
Passionate about safety, values diversity, and committed to fostering an inclusive, zero-harm environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum Certificate IV Workplace Health & Safety
Minimum 2 years’ experience in resource safety role
Advanced PC skills and computer literacy i.e. Microsoft applications mainly excel/word
Experience in Incident Investigation (ICAM certification - Essential Factors preferred)
