Hiring Disability Support Worker
About the role
Specialist Disability Housing is currently looking for highly active Disability Support Workers (Casual) with minimum 1 year of experience. We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and experienced disability support workers for our clients near Mandurah area. You can make a difference in our clients' lives by supporting them with daily living activities and domestic duties and empowering them to achieve their life goals.
You will be actively supporting their individual needs and creating a safe environment. We will be looking for staff who have good availability to cover several shifts as disability support workers, i.e., Mornings, afternoons, Nights and sleepover shifts. Please state in your application if you prefer days or nights.
Key Responsibilities
Pay: $27.17 per hour
Expected hours: 14 – 20 per week

Key Responsibilities
- Support participants to work towards achieving their individual goals
- Must be willing to stay in water during the hydrotherapy sessions.
- Support daily living, promoting cooking, housekeeping, hygiene, shopping, Medication administration, community access etc.
- Support participants in building their confidence.
- Liaise and collaborate with clients, their community and community & disability support agencies.
- Monitor and review the participant's progress through the service and against the support plan.
- Utilize positive behavior strategies
- Support clients to participate in age-appropriate activities and tasks, including employment, in-home disability support and community access.
- Work in accordance with the medication administration policy, work health and safety procedures and client rights policies, including privacy and confidentiality.
- Monitor the safety and well-being of people with disability and report any concerns to the Manager.
- Ensure completion of appropriate documentation. As required, relevant information on disability support will be recorded in client notes and communication books.
- Participate in the Lifestyle Service Planning process for individual clients and monitor outcomes.
- Work with clients, family/ carers, relevant case managers and other professionals to support the client's individual goals.
- Liaise extensively with other staff to ensure the overall smooth and consistent running of the disability services.
- Report regularly to the Manager
- Qualification in community/disability/individual support/aged care/ Mental Health and preferably with relevant experience.
- Experience working with clients with disability & challenging behaviors.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Current Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
- 100-point check ID
- Valid visa/working rights in Australia
- First aid/CPR
- Medication cert
- Manual handling cert
- Working with children check
- NDIS clearance check
- NDIS orientation module cert
- Covid-19 Vaccination evidence (1st, 2nd and booster doses)
- Hand hygiene cert
- Covid-19 infection control cert.
Pay: $27.17 per hour
Expected hours: 14 – 20 per week
