MANAGER PUBLIC SAFETY
DIRECTORATE: COMMUNITY SERVICES
Task Level 15: R565 224 to R733 752 (Basic Salary)
R809 250 to R1 027 168 (Total Cost to Council Package)
(PERMANENT APPOINTMENT)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or B degree with a major course in
Criminal Justice, Safety and Security; Fire Science, Behavioural Science, Business or Public Administration or
a related field, Working knowledge of National Road Traffic Act, Municipal Policing and Municipal SCM
procedures.
8 years or more relevant experience of which 2 years must be at Supervisory level
Computer Literacy: Ms Office
Knowledge of Municipal Policies and Municipal SCM procedures
Valid Driver’s Licence with own transport
Bilingual in at least 2 of the 3 official languages prevalent in the Greater Knysna Municipality Area
Full range of administrative knowledge in the management of a function
Manages administrative and clerical staff
Knowledge of Archive Act
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Management of speed camera tender and to develop measures to increase revenue
Management of security tender to minimise the risk to the Municipality
Management of CCTV cameras to improve security as well as the development of a fully equipped control
room.
Annual review of the approved law enforcement strategy
Attending of all committee meetings
Preparing of reports to Council
Financial control and the drafting of capital and operational budgets
Liaison with Provincial Departments
