Ngā Kete Wānanga o Ōtautahi Christchurch City Libraries is a network providing access to creativity, ideas and information. We make opportunities for our community to explore and have fun with everything from old stories to new technologies through a vast range of materials and public programmes. Nestled in the picturesque town of Akaroa, our library provides access to a variety of resources for the local community and visitors to the area.

Hours: 15.5 hours per week, Monday - Wednesday. Exact shifts to be discussed with the successful applicant.
Position: Permanent, part-time
Location: Primarily based at Akaroa Library, 2 Selwyn Avenue
Salary: $27.80 per hour (living wage)

As a Library Assistant in our network, you'll spend your days:
- Helping our customers by recommending reads and resources
- Assisting with information enquiries
- Aiding with technology needs
- Promoting our various programmes and events
To be successful, you will:
- Have excellent and welcoming customer service skills reflecting the values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga
- Be able to work collaboratively with your team and with customers, showing a genuine willingness to help others
- Have the ability to navigate difficult moments and the resilience to help people succeed
- Demonstrate in word and action an understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to Christchurch City Libraries
- Be committed to continuous personal learning and growth
- Be able to effectively communicate with colleagues and customers
- NCEA level 3 (UE or equivalent) and 12 months customer service experience OR 3 years customer service experience and demonstrated commitment to continuing education
- Commitment to work according to our service philosophy values of manaakitanga, māramatanga, kaitiakitanga and whanaungatanga
