The Value Stream Supervisor is responsible for driving operational excellence within a manufacturing environment by managing and optimizing the entire value stream. This role combines leadership, hands-on management, and data-driven decision-making to ensure production efficiency, quality, and safety. The Value Stream Supervisor will lead a team, oversee performance reviews, manage projects, and maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement and employee relations. Key Responsibilities:
- Production Oversight:
Supervise and coordinate the daily operations within the assigned value stream, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining quality standards. Manage workflow to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
Analyze real-time data from ERP systems to monitor production metrics, inventory levels, and workflow efficiency. Use data insights to drive process improvements and enhance production outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset:
Implement Lean Manufacturing principles, focusing on waste reduction and efficiency improvements. Lead and facilitate Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and value stream mapping exercises to drive ongoing improvements.
- Performance Reviews:
Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing constructive feedback and setting measurable goals. Identify training needs and create development plans to ensure team growth and success.
- Hands-On Leadership:
Actively engage on the production floor to identify issues, support team members, and lead by example. Address operational challenges promptly and ensure a high standard of work.
- Problem/Conflict Resolution:
Resolve operational issues and conflicts within the team using strong communication and negotiation skills. Foster a collaborative work environment where team members feel supported and valued.
- Project Management:
Manage projects related to process improvements, new product launches, and capacity planning. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are achieved within scope, time, and budget.
- Metrics-Driven Value Stream Mapping:
Utilize value stream mapping and other lean tools to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. Monitor KPIs, including cycle time, throughput, and defect rates, to ensure the value stream is operating at peak performance.
- Employee Relations:
Cultivate a positive work environment by promoting open communication, recognition, and engagement. Act as a mentor and coach, addressing team concerns and fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: Minimum [3-5] years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong background in value stream management and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Skills:
- Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and metrics to inform decision-making.
- ERP Proficiency: Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Project Management: Skilled in planning, executing, and managing projects to improve production efficiency and process quality.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and challenges within the team effectively.
- Lean Principles: Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration across all levels of the organization.
