SUMMARY
The High School Cheerleading Coach will lead and manage the cheerleading program, focusing on the development of cheer skills, team spirit, and sportsmanship. This role involves creating practice routines, organizing performances, and fostering a positive team environment. The coach will work closely with student-athletes to promote enthusiasm, school pride, and a sense of community while encouraging academic success and personal growth.
This role is crucial to fostering school spirit, teamwork, and sense of pride within the student body. The High School Coach will inspire students to represent their school with enthusiasm, build valuable life skills, and contribute to a memorable high school experience.
The High School Cheerleading Coach is a Seasonal/Temporary position for the 2024-25 school year. Applicants need to complete St. Labre Indian Catholic School Coaching Application.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Program Leadership and Team Development
- Plan, organize, and implement a cheerleading program that promotes school spirit and supports athletic teams at games and school events.
- Develop team goals, expectations, and routines that align with school values and enhance student engagement.
- Lead tryouts and select team members based on skills and attitude, and commitment.
2. Practice and Performance Planning
- Create and conduct practice sessions focusing on cheer fundamentals, safety, stunts, and choreography.
- Organize cheers, routines, and dances for games, pep rallies, and special events, ensuring consistency and high performance.
- Teach and enforce safety protocols and injury prevention techniques.
3. Membership and Student Development
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and personal accountability among team members.
- Encourage student-athletes to maintain academic standards and a balanced approach to their responsibilities.
- Address and support the individual needs of students, fostering confidence and resilience.
4. Parental and Community Engagement
- Maintain open communication with parents about schedules, team expectations, and performance plans.
- Organize and supervise fundraising activities to support team expenses, if applicable.
- Act as a liaison between the team, school, and community, fostering positive relationships and school pride.
5. Administrative and Program Logistics
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director for scheduling, facilities, equipment, and transportation needs.
- Manage uniforms, equipment, and other resources to ensure proper maintenance and readiness.
- Adhere to all school, district, and state policies, including those regarding safety and student conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma required; college degree or coursework in education or a related filed preferred.
- Experience in cheerleading as a coach, advisor or former cheerleader.
- Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, stunts, and safety regulations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and spirited environment.

Working Conditions:
This position may require attendance at evening games, weekend events, and pep rallies, depending on the team schedule. Physical activity, including demonstrating cheer routines, stunts, and lifting equipment, is required.
