Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounts, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. This role is crucial for supporting the overall financial health of the organization and requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, preferably with non-profit/church experience.
Essential Functions
1. Accounts receivable (recording membership offerings, and other monetary gifts and income, often in association with the finance team.)
2. Accounts payable (preparing bills for approval by designated leadership for payment, writing checks and/or processing ACH Debit Payments)
3. Assist with preparing payroll.
4. Produce monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for review by the congregational leadership.
5. Produce quarterly and year end giving statements for congregational members.
6. Maintain financial files and historical financial data, for record keeping purposes.
7. Work with Treasurer to ensure adequate funds exist in necessary accounts for bill payments, payroll, and other necessary expenditures.
8. Ability to cover the office under extenuating circumstances.

1. Hold a valid and current driver’s license.
2. Ability to pass a background check.
3. Previous bookkeeping experience, preferably using a church financial management system such as Shepherds Staff or Church 360.
4. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other technology-based skills.
5. Knowledge of best practices for church/non-profit book keeping.
