Job Description: Deli Assistant/Cashier
Position: Deli Assistant/Cashier
Location: Kareela Food Hall
Employment Type: Part-time/Full-time
Reports to: Store Manager/Owner

Kareela Food Hall is a small, family-run business dedicated to offering fresh, high-quality products in a warm, community-focused environment. We specialize in fresh fruit and vegetables, a delicatessen, a juice bar, continental groceries, and fresh-cut flowers. As a Deli Assistant/Cashier, you’ll play a key role in providing excellent service to our customers and helping them feel like family.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, assist them with deli orders, and answer questions about products and store offerings.
Cashiering: Accurately operate the cash register, handle cash and card payments, and maintain a balanced till.
Food Preparation: Prepare and package deli products, including slicing meats, cheeses, and preparing salads, according to customer specifications.
Stocking and Display: Maintain clean, organized displays and keep shelves stocked. Rotate products to ensure freshness.
Health and Safety Compliance: Follow food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Cleaning Duties: Maintain cleanliness at the deli counter, including sanitizing surfaces, tools, and equipment regularly.
Inventory Management: Assist with inventory tracking, including stock counts and reporting low inventory to management.
Team Support: Collaborate with fellow team members to create a supportive and friendly workplace.
Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in a deli, retail, or food service is preferred but not required.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Attitude: Positive, friendly, and customer-focused with a genuine desire to help and make customers feel at home.
